Vanaspati is the Sanskrit word that now refers to the entire plant kingdom. However, according to Charaka Samhitā and Sushruta Samhita medical texts and the Vaisesikas school of philosophy, "vanaspati" is limited to plants that bear fruits but no evident flowers. In the Rigveda, 9th Mandala, Hymn 5.10, "Vanaspati" (literally meaning: Lord of the Forest) is a deity presiding over the forest and described as the "bright golden hued Vanaspati, with its thousand branches."

Charaka Samhitā and Sushruta Samhita medicine texts classify plants into Vanaspati, Vrksa or vanaspatya, Virudh and Osadhi. This second Susruta subdivides Virudhs into pratanavatya (creepers with spreading stem on the grounds) and gulminya (succulent herbs), whereas the first Charaka subdivides Virudhs into lata (creeper), gulma and osadhis into annuals or perennials bearing fruits and grasses which go without fruits. These are further divided into 50 groups based on their physiological actions and diseases they cure. Flowering plants are divided into sukadhanya (cereals), samidhanya (pulses), saka varga (pot herbs), phala varga (fruits), harita varga (vegetable), ahayogi varga (oils), and iksu varga (sugarcane).

The Vaisesikas school of philosophy classify plants under seven heads, e.g. Vrksa, Trna, Osadhi, Gulma, Lata, Avatana and Vanaspati.
Definingthe characteristics of the various groups Udayana's Kiranavali, remarks that:
Vrksas are plants with trunk, branches, flowers and fruits;Trnas are exemplified by ulupa like plant;Osadhis are plants like kaluma. which die after fruition;Gulmas are plant like bhata,Latas are represented by kusmanda, a species of Cucurbita;Avatanas are plants like ketaki;i andVanaspatis are trees which produce fruits without flowers.

Do this for children's health.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ Gets Its First Update in India, Brings March Security Patch, Camera Improvements

Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ deliveries will begin in India from March 6 for all those who pre-ordered the smartphone. However, Samsung is rolling out a day zero software update for the phones and our Galaxy S20+ test unit has just picked it up. The update is primarily is aimed at improving camera performance and it also adds the March 2020 Android security patch. Recently, early reviews for the Galaxy S20 Ultra haven't been very favourable as many tech websites claimed the phone had issues with the autofocus system. Even though we've not encountered any autofocus issues with the Galaxy S20+ so far, it's always nice to have updates which improve the performance of the phone.
We spotted the update during a routine check when reviewing the Galaxy S20+. The update is 429.97MB in size and seems to be rolling out to the Indian units of the Galaxy S20+. The changelog simply states “Improved performance - Camera,” but no further details on what's actually improved. It's possible that a similar update is rolling out to the smaller Galaxy S20₹ 66,999 too. Delivery for the Galaxy S20 Ultra on the other hand starts on March 24, for those who pre-ordered it.

Google Cloud Announces Delhi as Its Second India Region, Will Open in 2021

Google on Thursday announced plans to open its second Cloud region in India -- in Delhi next year -- and help regulated industries such as healthcare and financial services, as well as public sector organisations across the country to achieve their Cloud goal. Google launched the Mumbai region in 2017. The new cloud region will expand Google's existing network, which stands at eight regions in the Asia Pacific and 22 regions globally.
"At Google Cloud, our mission is to accelerate every organisation's ability to transform through data-powered innovation with leading infrastructure, platform, industry solutions and expertise designed to meet our customers where they are on their journey to the cloud," said Rick Harshman, Managing Director, Google Cloud Asia Pacific.
As the company's customers in India grow and diversify, Google cloud regions bring Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to organisations in industries like media and entertainment, retail and manufacturing.
The Google Cloud Platform is enabling customers such as L&T Finance, Manipal Hospital Group, Reliance Mutual Fund, Royal Enfield, TechMahindra, Truecaller, and many more to deliver high performing and secure Cloud-based services to their users.
The Delhi cloud region will have three zones to protect against service disruptions.
"2020 is already shaping up to be a great year for Google Cloud in India, and we look forward to helping businesses and governments solve their most complex challenges and create value for years to come," said Harshman.
The region will also include a portfolio of key GCP products, offer lower latency to nearby users, and, when combined with the existing region in Mumbai, enable geographically separate in-country disaster recovery for the customers' mission-critical applications.
"With access to faster compute power, we can also on-board consumers more efficiently. Our rural businesses have clocked a disbursement CAGR of 60 per cent over the past three years," said Sunil Prabhune, Chief Executive-Rural Finance, and Group Head-Digital, IT and Analytics, L&T Financial Services.
Today, customers in more than 150 countries are using Google Cloud as their trusted partner to solve their most critical business problems.
Mukesh Rathi who is CIO and Chief Digital Officer at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories added: "A Delhi cloud region shows we are working with a cloud provider that shares our commitment to high-quality in-market and multinational services".
