National Health Mission, state health society Gujarat has created wide network of health.
Medical care facilities in the state to provides primary, secondary and tertiary health care at the door step of every citizen of Gujarat.
With prime focus on BPL families, marginalized population and weaker sections in rural and urban slum areas.

Department also takes appropriate actions to create adequate educational facilities for medical and paramedical manpower in the state of Gujarat.
The National Health Mission (NHM) encompasses its two Sub-Missions, the NRHM and the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).
The main programmatic components include Health System Strengthening, Reproductive-Maternal- Neonatal-Child and Adolescent Health, and Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases.
The NHM envisages achievement of universal access to equitable, affordable & quality health care services that are accountable and responsive to people’s needs.

NHM has six financing components:
  1. NRHM-RCH Flexipool,
  2. NUHM Flexipool,
  3. Flexible pool for Communicable disease,
  4. Flexible pool for Non communicable disease including Injury and Trauma,
  5. Infrastructure Maintenance and
  6. Family Welfare Central Sector component.
Within the broad national parameters and priorities, states would have the flexibility to plan and implement state specific action plans.
The state PIP would spell out the key strategies, activities undertaken, budgetary requirements and key health outputs and outcomes.
